In the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport, there are groups for diverse interests that help students develop personally, improve their civic standing, plan their free time properly, and develop strong bonds with the Academy.
To aid students in expanding their knowledge and skill sets as well as their worldview, all groups and clubs use informal education techniques. To this end, they host a variety of training sessions, seminars, tournaments, and contests.
The Academy has 8 clubs that students would be interested in joining. English conversation club, music club (free guitar lessons), sport club (student competitions), book club (a variety of events are planned to keep it interesting for students), dance club (free dance lessons), photo and art club (different trainings to improve students' abilities), debate club, and youth club are just a few of the clubs that offer their members extracurricular activities (within the framework of cooperation with FAIREX, trips to Haydar Aliyev summit and other regions).
On November 8, 1930, the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport was established. The current home of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society hosted the Transcaucasian State Institute of Physical Education's inaugural ceremony. Training physical education teachers, coaches, and medical methodologists for the support of physical education and sport was one of the Institute's key goals.

The Academy has set out to raise the bar for athletic education, enhance educational standards, and develop professionals who are competitive in the global job market. Since 2016, the Academy has undergone a series of reforms, building brand-new infrastructure (e-libraries, labs, fast internet), expanding educational opportunities (distance and online learning, ICT, student and faculty exchanges, scientific research projects), researching international experience, and establishing international cooperation.
