National Aviation Academy

National Aviation Academy was established in 1992 as "National Aviation Center". In 1994, "National Aviation Center" was named National Aviation Academy. Since 1996, the National Aviation Academy has been headed by Arif Mir Jalal oglu Pashayev, Honored Scientist, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, full member of ANAS.

Today, the National Aviation Academy of "Azerbaijan Airlines" CJSC ("AZAL" CJSC) is a higher education institution that provides the strategically important aerospace field of Azerbaijan, including civil aviation and a number of other fields, with highly qualified specialists who meet international requirements. The infrastructure of academy is as follows:

The NAA educational infrastructure includes 6 faculties, 23 departments, Pilot Training Centre, IATA Institute, Maintenance Training Organization, Aviation Security Centre, Information Technologies Center, Educational-Methodical Department, Department of Master's and Doctoral Studies, Quality Assurance Department, Department of International Relations.

There are 21 specialities in Bachelor’s degree, 17 in master’s degree, 10 in doctor studies.

The main directions of higher education at NAA are as follows:

  1. Training of pilots in flight operation of modern aircraft and helicopters,
  2. Air traffic controllers and air navigation engineers,
  3. Engineers for the design, production, testing and operation of aerospace equipment, aircraft and rocket engines, technical operation of aircraft and aircraft engines, avionics and control systems,
  4. Engineers for electronics, radio engineering, telecommunications, aerospace devices,
  5. Engineers for aerospace monitoring, hydrometeorology, ecology,
  6. Engineers for aerospace information technology, programming, automated flight control systems,
  7. Management of passenger and freight traffic, operation of airports, terminals, logistics centers consist in training specialists to ensure the transport system safety.

For international students admission is held in 11 specialties at the departments of Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages.

  NAA has wide and beautiful campus for students. The Student Campus, located on the 8-hectare area of the National Aviation Academy, is one of the most beautiful places on the Academy campus. All kinds of conditions have been created for students' comfortable participation in education, preparation for lessons, rest, quality nutrition, active leisure time, various sports and creative activities, as well as living in campus. In addition, the campus is an invaluable space for students to devote time to study, research, experience, various projects, practical skills, reading sports, music, art. A four-star hotel-type dormitory building was built on the campus and put to use by students. The first dormitory building is intended for female students, and the other three buildings are for male students. Comfortable and beautiful conditions that meet modern requirements have been created in the buildings intended for 335 students in total.

So, in the lobby of each floor, the TV, rest and reading rooms, kitchen, and laundry are available to the students; the rooms are equipped with the necessary furniture, household appliances, heating system, high-speed internet, three-story dormitory buildings are equipped with elevators. Fire extinguishing equipment is installed on all floors and rooms of dormitory buildings equipped with a centralized heating system.

NAA has very large library and the library fund of the NAA is equipped with scientific, technical, educational, methodological and reference literature. Currently the library fund has more than 80000 – books in Azerbaijani, Russian and English.
